"The Perfection of the Moment" at CIFF & EIFF

CIFF, EIFF premiering award-winning short film by Calgary Filmmaker Corey Lee
Calgary AB. Calgary filmmaker Corey Lee will premiere his 2006 Alberta Film & Television Award-winning short film The Perfection of the Moment on the big screen at both the upcoming Calgary and Edmonton International Film Festivals.
Lee, who wrote and directed the 2003 feature film "defining edward" was itching to get back behind the camera. After attending festivals and securing a broadcast window for his debut feature, Lee yearned to direct another dramatic film.
Robin Loewen (cinematographer) gave Sue Bristow (co-producer) and I a copy of Kilter: 55 Fictions, by 2003 Giller Prize finalist John Gould, says Lee, adding The book, as it is written, is already very cinematic. I wanted to stay as true to the original work as possible. The stories in kilter are these clever, concise little three-page knock out punches. I am just happy to be able to bring his work to the screen.
The Perfection of the Moment tells the story of an unfortunate series of events involving a man walking alone late one night in a shady end of town and stars Calgary actors Joel McNichol (Defining Edward, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and Gillian Carfra (A Friend of the Family, Dawn Anna).
At the Calgary International Film Festival, the film screens as a finalist for the Alberta Centennial Award for excellence in short filmmaking at the Uptown Stage and Screen on Sunday, September 24 at 6:30pm and again on Sunday, October 1 at 7:15pm. As part of the Edmonton International Film Festival, The Perfection of the Moment will screen on Tuesday, October 3, first as part of the 'Lunchbox Shorts' series at Edmonton City Centre at noon, then again that evening at 7:00pm in the 'International Shorts' strand at the Princess Theatre II.
