"In Translation" wins MING Grand Prize


Calgary AB. - Filmmaker Corey Lee's award-winning short film, "In Translation", picked up another as it won the Grand Prize at the 2009 MING Short Film Festival Gala on September 12th, 2009.
Lee co-wrote the short with with John Gould, the author of the Giller Prize short-listed, kilter: 55 fictions. The film is the final piece in Lee's highly successful Kilter Trilogy, which includes the films, "What You're Ready For" and "The Perfection of the Moment", which won the MING Grand Prize in 2007.
Previously, "In Translation" won the award for Best Alberta Short Film at the 2008 Edmonton International Film Festival, sharing the prize with J. Scott Portingale's "Midnight Matinee". The film has screened at a number of highly regarded festivals including: Calgary International, as a finalist for the Best of Alberta, Whistler 2008 and the touring Prairie Tales 11. The film features brilliant performances by Vincent Gale and Simone Elise Girard.
"In Translation" was produced with a Bravo!FACT grant, supported by Bravo! NewStyleArtsChannel, and was made possible by the generous support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
